Welcome to the Ladies' Auxiliary AB-NWT Command
The Royal Canadian Legion is well known as a support organization for veterans and their families. An affiliated group known as the Ladies' Auxiliary has a very similar mandate and is often unfairly “grouped together” with the Legion by those unfamiliar with the structure of either organization.
The Legion was founded in November 1925 in Winnipeg and chartered in 1926 by a special Act of Parliament. However, veteran welfare and assistance had been carried on since 1916. During the 1914-1916 War Years as wounded veterans returned home, women were asked to help with their recovery by visiting hospitals, sending parcels to hospitalized and needy families and raising funds. These ladies served the Veterans and their dependents. Thus, our Ladies' Auxiliary unofficially was formed.

Although associated by their mission The Ladies' Auxiliary is actually a separate organization from The Royal Canadian Legion.

Alberta-NWT Command Ladies’ Auxiliary represents 9 Districts which includes 55 Auxiliaries throughout Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

Some of the Ladies' Auxiliary Command Projects include collecting donations for the Bursary Fund, a fund for bursaries given to students who have recently completed high school; the Hospital Fund, a fund for hospitals and health care facilities in the Province of Alberta and the Northwest Territories; and the Sports Fund, a fund for the District Commanders and Officers’ expenses when attending sporting events.
